Synopsis: Kalliope lives with one purpose.

To inspire.

As an immortal muse, she doesn’t have any other choice. It’s part of how she was made. Musicians, artists, actors—they use her to advance their art, and she uses them to survive. She moves from one artist to the next, never staying long enough to get attached. But all she wants is a different life— a normal one. She’s spent thousands of years living lie after lie, and now she’s ready for something real.

Sweet, sexy, and steady, Wilder Bell feels more real than anything else in her long existence. And most importantly… he’s not an artist. He doesn’t want her for her ability. But she can’t turn off the way she influences people, not even to save a man she might love. Because in small doses, she can help make something beautiful, but her ability has just as much capacity to destroy as it does to create. The longer she stays, the more obsessed Wilder will become. It’s happened before, and it never turns out well for the mortal.

Her presence may inspire genius.

But it breeds madness, too.

Review: 4.5 Stars - Inspire is the first book in author Cora Carmack’s latest series - The Muse. It’s a supernatural “New Adult” title that’s welcomed to the category that’s lacking in all things otherworldly and Carmack’s story is unique and thrilling.

Finally we have a NEW and exciting supernatural story to love within “New Adult”! I enjoyed this one so much and the characters were intriguing. Kalliope – Kalli is an immortal muse. She’s been living among humans for thousands of years. She moves around often because she doesn’t age. Each night at midnight her body resets back to the same person she’s always been and always will be.

She has a tough job where she walks a very fine line between influencing artists and pushing them into madness. With living a long life she’s naturally promoted many lies, so living a solitary life and never getting too attached to anyone for longer than needed has resulted in a sad and lonely person who longs for something more, something lasting.

So when a chance meeting puts Wilder Bell in her sights she feels drawn to him yet doesn’t understand why. He’s not an artist and it’s this strong pull that makes her run.

Wilder has made a lot of changes and has sacrificed so much for his family. He’s moved home to help out and is trying to find a way with his new life. He’s a pretty amazing character because all he’s given up on top of who readers have a chance to learn all about throughout the story.

These two characters have their work cut out for themselves with all they are facing and Kalli has a lot to lose if she’s caught by those who are watching.

And I can’t even tell you much about the story because I’d give so much away. I’ll just say that the deeper you get into the story the more you feel so wrapped up in what’s going on and what’s about to happen that you really can’t look away.

There’s so many heated moments between these two characters as well. The passion Carmack conveys between is pretty epic.

The only reason why I can’t give this a full 5 stars was the beginning was a touch slow go for me. I was worried reading the first bit but there’s a scene that you hit and it’s all so fast moving from that point that it’s like I said above, I couldn’t look away. I didn’t want to put the book down; I had to know what was going to happen next.

And then that ending??? I wanted to throw my Kindle. I had a bit of a freak out and Carmack… you are EVIL! Seriously, talk about a book hangover!

There’s no doubt in my mind that readers will be loving this book as I have and will follow along with me in stalking the author for the next book in the series entitled – Inflict out in 2015. If there’s any doubt, I recommend this title to all readers. It’s out now, so go buy and read and freak out along with me. Enjoy!
